Habitat
for Artists...and Jin Shin Jyutsu
Brian Wallace, Curator for The Samuel Dorskey Museum of Art, and artist Simmon Draper, creator of Habitat for Artist, invited me to take part of five week residency and
make my Personal Space to Create, at one of Draper's Habitat for Artist as part of the ECO-TONES 2009 Art Exhibition.
I began by painting the shelter, and this is what took place:
During the month and half residency at Samuel Dorskey Museum of Art,
visitors gathered around my Habitat, which many began to called it:
"the mysterious shelter under the trees ";
Dialogues on Hudson Valley's ecology prefaced long conversations about art and
the economy.
With ease, individuals
shared concerns about their personal health and global peace.
Several minutes into the conversation, the initial reaction towards
the Shed-Shelter, made of Recycled-materials,
was transformed into a question:
"... So, is this the reason for Habitat for Artist ? Is this
why you are here ?
Our smiles turned into laughter always, as we considered the answer...
This
is how this residency developed:
